BBC’s Proms in the Park returns to the city for the first time since 2010!
Proms in the Park sees the spectacular culmination of the BBC Proms season, as the world-famous Last Night celebrations spill out from London’s Royal Albert Hall, and thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night.
Events are held in London, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Each show is centred around a live concert with its own high-profile artists, BBC orchestras and presenters. The evening culminates in a live big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall for the traditional singalong.
Opera star Bryn Terfel will headline in Swansea
Grammy Award-winning Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel has captivated audiences all over the globe across an extraordinary career spanning over 20 years. He said:
“Performing in Wales is always a thrill for me and doing so in the stunning outdoor setting of Singleton Park is sure to make it an evening to remember”
Also appearing on the night is young singer songwriter Casi from Bangor, who has been collaborating with BBC Cymru Wales and Arts Council of Wales as part of the Horizons music project. The Welsh singing stars will perform with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales, led by conductor Tecwyn Evans whose father hails from Swansea.
Plus Fiddlesticks, a local busking youth orchestra playing classic and contemporary pieces.
